Winch Pitch 2: and they’re off!

Wanted: adventurous startup to work with experienced skipper on #FrenchTech trimaran

The focus of the Winch Pitch launched in 2015 by La French Tech Rennes St Malo was improving the performance of the yachts and skippers in offshore races. It was so successful that we are organizing the second edition of this flagship event, to be held at the Salon Nautique in Paris on December 7.

So what is the Winch Pitch? It’s a unique opportunity for start-ups to discuss their innovative projects with real skippers who sail real yachts and compete in real races across the world’s oceans. Following the first edition, the startup Weather’n’co, experts in hyperlocal weather forecasting, tested its solution on the La French Tech Rennes St Malo trimaran under racing conditions.

Other start-ups also benefited from priority contact with Gilles Lamiré, the Trimaran’s official skipper, who was delighted to participate: “There’s not much difference between a skipper and a start-upper! When it comes to performance, innovation and—obviously—technology, we have all kinds of things in common with entrepreneurs. The Winch Pitch gave me a chance to intensify my discussions with this community. I’m excited to be able to participate again this year!”

Does your start-up innovate in the field of materials, electronics, on-board imaging, connected clothing, nutrition, health, sleep, climatology, ocean currents or any other area that might help a racing yacht win an offshore race? If so, then the Winch Pitch is made for you!

The two finalists of the Winch Pitch will win one year of experimentation on the La French Tech Rennes St Malo trimaran with skipper Gilles Lamiré. To enter, apply HERE by November 21  (the following week, we will be announcing the ten start-ups chosen to make a six-minute pitch).
